Thank you Dr. Rivera for explaining my options for corrective surgery based on how much of the eyelid was removed. You were very clear on recovery time and expectations. Also, I appreciate that you have unexpected severity of cases and took the time for the patients before me to give them complete care. That’s what we want from a surgeon and sometimes we have to wait! And it was worth it. The restructuring of the eye lid is so good that friends couldn’t easily tell which eye after only four days

I was referred to Dr. Rivera for a lid blepharoplasty from my optician as my lids compromised my vision. I met with her and found her very hasty and impersonal but because it was CEI, trusted her opinion. She told me in the exam room after reviewing my field vision testing provided by CEI that I would qualify to have my lids lifted but "if you want the extra skin removed it will cost extra which will not be covered by insurance". Dr. Rivera provided me with world class care during a dire, medical emergency. She took my urgent case immediately, and rapidly analyzed the problem. Her treatment plan was brilliant, as was her skillful surgery. My mother went to see Dr. Rivera three times in the past six months at CEI in late 2024/early 2025. Dr. Rivera saw her for tear duct surgery due to watery eyes. At each visit, Dr. Rivera was rude and failed to listen to my mom’s concerns. She lacked empathy and rushed through appointments without addressing my mom’s questions for follow-up and next steps. I had a single appointment with Dr. Rivera at CEI in 2023, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt unfairly judged. Dr. Rivera did not introduce herself, nor did she offer a warm or welcoming demeanor. Instead, she was distant, cold, and seemed disengaged.
