I came onto this platform as a former vet tech with decades of experience with animals. During my tenure with Rover, I had multiple animals do damage to my property, which Rover did nothing about. As a sitter, I had a dog escape and he bit me and several other people who were trying to rescue him. I notified the owners and luckily the rest of the visit went great. Owners wrote a great review. Rover always asks at the end of a job if there were any escapes or bites. I responded with a yes. Rover emailed on Friday, Valentine’s Day evening about it. It was also Presidents’ Day weekend. Our friends used this service and came home to a dead cat. Sitter took pictures once and pretended like they were checking on the cat.

I just started Pet sitting and find the clients very very nice and the job is not that difficult if you love dogs.

Our sitter didn’t realize we had ring and could see her coming and going. We paid her for 30 minutes and most of the time she stayed for less than 10 minutes. It appears that Rover does not do any screening, references or background checks but they would have you believe that these hundreds of “sitters” on their website have all been qualified and checked out. I would never trust anyone from their company in my house again
