In today’s tires, actual tread life is impacted by several different factors. Tread life will typically vary by car type, tire type (all season, high performance, and so on), driving habits (including aggressiveness), and typical road and weather conditions.

Smooth or treadless industrial tires have a lot to offer in the right setting. They cause less floor damage, feature low rolling resistance, absorb shock, generate less heat, provide more traction, and do not leave black marks on your clean floors.

A radial tire is popular among agricultural tires. In this design, the cord plies are arranged at 90-degree angles to the direction of travel, and allow the sidewall and tread to function as two independent features.

Have you ever wondered how snow tires differ from other tires? Snow tires are made with special treads that will dig down into snow and ice; they are also made with softer rubbers to improve their performance in cold weather.

Polyurethane tires perform well on electric forklifts used for indoor applications. They have a small turning radius and can support substantially more weight than tires made from other materials. However, they cannot be used outdoors – regardless of the work required.

Are you on a limited budget and can’t afford to replace all four of your vehicle’s tires at once? It’s generally recommended that you replace two at a time, and the rear set should always be replaced first to ensure the safest possible ride.

The maximums for inflation and load of a tire are expressed as the Static Load Ratio (SLR). This measurement is taken when the tire is under load, and is calculated from the centerline of the axle to the ground.

Directional tire treads are made up of V-shaped patterns with large spaces between each lug, creating a mud and snow tire that provides excellent traction. However, the tire must be installed with the side facing out so that the lugs hit the ground in a certain way to provide maximum traction.

Does tractor type play a role in my tire choice? Absolutely! In fact, 2WD, MFWD, and 4WD tractors have significant differences in the ways they are used, how hard they are worked, and where and when (such as row crop versus open field applications) that determine tire needs.
