Dr. Rossi was very cold and inconsiderate with her approach and choice of words. After expressing worry about my alcoholic father she said to me “you’re just going to have to accept the fact that someday your father is going to die of his alcoholism.” I was already very aware of this fact and needed coping skills and validation for what I was going through, not a staunch reminder of the hard truth I was actively struggling with.
