Where do I start? This was my first mediation experience for an agreement with my child’s father. The first thing he asked was “is the magistrate with us & is this being recorded?” There was no judge there and so that gave him incentive to say whatever he felt. He didn’t remain impartial. My child’s father is a narcissist and very easy to manipulate. This was over zoom so my ex went first with the mediator & manipulated the mediator right off the bat. So.. for the short hour of his meditated time, he explained his part, his past & yrs of service. I found him a kind man. Very cordial, & mildly empathetic.. but you'll find that in most lawyers during the 1st visit. I thought of using him for upcoming hearings until we started the sessions & he didn't have any of the cases information, files or documents on hand to be knowledgeable about the needs or wants of the ppl.
