Good for lunches on the Loop – Going to Rosebud for lunch is a great lunchtime tradition for many of the office workers in the Loop. The restaurant also has a nice free buffett during happy hour right after work that I recommend. The food is very good and come in very large portions. However, the placement of the restaurant, especially the spillage into the building's lobby, does hurt the mood somewhat. I recommend waiting for a table that is located in the actual restaurant if there is a choice.
Great pasta – The first time we went there the waiter was downright rude. I didn't want to go back but decided to give it another try. The food is great and we had a super waiter our second visit. Portions are huge so we've never made it to dessert.
Great Food! – The prawns are huge and delicious! The chop salad is wonderful! The menu has everything from burgers to lobster and filet. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Excellent food – This is a restaurant you want to sit outside at! We were exhausted from shopping and decided to stop for a nibble and a glass of wine. Our server gave us the best seat and our wine was quick to come. Our food was fresh and extremely tasty with what you would come to expect from a family run restaurant. The eggplant was cooked to perfection and the pasta was a huge portion perfect for sharing.
There are better Italian restaurants. – In a city that prides itself on Little Italy and authentic Italian fare, it is a mystery to me that a place like Rosebud would get high reviews on CitySearch. We were constantly rushed (they tried to remove all three of our courses before we finished) and the bill came within seconds of the desert. The bruschetta featured toast with a slice of cheese and tomatoes on it, and the calamari, like most of the appetizers, was deep-fried bar food. About the only positive was the wine, and the... read more
Terrible Service and Mediocre Food – I came here for a birthday dinner. Reservations were made for 5 pm. Even at this time, the restaurant was overcroweded and very loud. There is minimal room at the bar to have a drink or enjoy conversation with friends. We were sat in the upstairs dining room. When the server came to our table he did not introduce himself nor did he even smile and did not explain or recommend anything on the menu. He mumbled and didn't talk over the noise in the room. He rarely came to the table to ask for... read more
My Favorite Place for Steak, Chicken & Crab Cakes – When we visit Chicago there is no better place to eat than Rosebud's Steak House. Although its name says Steakhouse there is much more entree's to choose from and they have the best Crab Cakes and Chicken as well. Not only is the food fabulous but the staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is wonderful. When I am in town for a visit from Michigan my first place for dinner is this wonderful place. Bonnie
Touristy, average food – Do not order the Lobster...over priced, tough, but the pasta was very good. Average wait, food was ok. Not sure what the big deal is though. If looking for a great restaurant...skip this...do not eat near the Bar....smokers...smells like hell
Must Try – Went with a party of six. Were were seated right away and had an awesome waiter who patiently explained everything. Everyone loved their meal. The sea bass special was very, very good, but very pricey at $36 (the waiter did not say) Another special was also $36. Regular menu prices are much lower. Expensive drink prices. Stick with the better priced pastas and have a great meal. Old Blue eyes is there overlooking you.
