Much to be Desired – A recent post-matinee dinner visit left much to be desired. We had reservations, arrived and were seated on time. We were seated at a table on a corner inside the restaurant and could not count the number of times my chair was kicked or bumped by passing wait staff. Good service but terrible food – A friend had suggested this restaurant after reading good reviews, but had never been there himself. What a disappointment. Although the service was adequate (mind you the waiters were more interested in watching a sports game on TV and the maitre d' was overcompensating) we were all disappointed with the quality of the food. Classic Italian – I wanted to try the original location, never had any of the other Rosebuds. Made reservations a week ahead of time, had a window-side table. Great antipasto plate, classic caprese salad. All the pasta plates are classic, well made, perfectly seasoned. Great food. Bad Attitude. – Like many places in Chicago - this is a great spot for a steak. But I will never go back there. The staff is friendly enough but the ownership is terrible. Having booked our reservation far ahead of time - we requested a very specific area of the restaurant. Not only wasn't this honored, but when we were seated, it as at the worst table in the whole place. We are regular customers and live right around the corner from the place. Great – Food is awesome. Service is good too. Try the mushrooms for an appitizer. They are almost as thick as steak. If you go on a day you can sit outside, you will really enjoy it very much.
Excellent Italian Food – This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in general. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is nice and friendly. I enjoy the decor as well.
Well...at least it's not Olive Garden =) – I don't remember where I heard about this restaurant (maybe on the Food Network or something) but when I found out that there was a location near where I was shopping (around Water Tower Place) I just had to check out this place for myself.
