My husband and I have four beautiful daughters ranging in ages from 28 to 15. We live in the TEXAS panhandle and have very limited resources in mental health. Our first encounter with Roots Renewal Ranch started in May 2024 with a tour of the ranch and the facilities to try and determine if a facility 6 hours from home would be a good fit for one of our daughters that was experiencing multiple issues with anxiety and depression. Roots Renewal Ranch was a refreshing burst of hope for our family during a very dark and uncertain time in our lives. Roots is the exact opposite of what I feared about residential facilities. It’s a safe, loving, whole health focused and even fun place for teen girls to get therapeutic help and learn healthy coping skills. I have mixed feelings about Roots. They were plenty of amazing staff and clients who made my days so much better, but there were also some people there who gave me absolute hell. I was there for self harm but I didn’t feel like I was getting the right treatment, as most of the program focuses on substance abuse. I’ve never done any kind of substance in my life and I felt very out of place when people brought it up. They did do a very good job providing me with my personal/hygienic/comfort needs, I can’t complain about that. ... read more
