I've worked with Root Excavation for over 20 years and find them to be honest, hard working, very competent and despite what some reviews may say, extremely professional. One reviewers comment that a water line was broken is not the fault of the excavator when they are doing a repair below the water line. Every excavator has this clause in their contracts because the CITY allows water lines to be place directly above sewer lines. Root excavation rocks! I have had them do work for me on two separate occasions, both times they went above and beyond. They are knowledgeable, easy to work with and got the job done quickly and professionally. The first time was a sewer replacement. Second time was actually a city problem, but they navigated through city bureaucracy for us. Highly recommend!

Root/Ragland replaced a non-conforming sewer line and in the process, completely abandoned a portion of the sewer line into the lawn of the home. We wound up with raw sewage spilling into the street for months while we went through the legal procedures to give Root a chance to rectify the situation. They initially came out to inspect and only inspected the clean out they installed, NOT the existing clean out that was already installed on the property before they did their work. We used Root Excavation for a sewer line replacement several years ago. They were on time, professional and finished exactly when they said they would. Recently listed home for sale and when sewer scope showed an issue near the street (but on our sidet) they worked me into schedule and fixed the connection point so I could close on time. Root Excavation really botched our sewer line replacement. They broke the water line and even the concrete box for the water meter, which wound up costing us several thousand dollars (they were quick to point out that they weren't in any way responsible). Also when they re-poured the sidewalk, the caution tape wasn't set up well and no attempt was made to match the color of the surrounding concrete. Really nothing was done well.
