Shut this place down. They made my life worse. Still traumatized years later. Complained about me when having phone calls at the end of the day. Therapist did not care. They dismissed my depression, and moved me to an anxiety area. All because I didn’t open up right away about my feelings. Forced me to knock on doors 30 times a day for “exposure therapy”. They didn’t respect my boundaries. And they stole my stuff, and never owned up to it. I fixed myself better than they ever could have. This location is horrible.
I keep telling myself that psychiatric hospitals couldn’t get worse than Miramont, but I stand corrected. Put it this way. If I had access to my phone during my stay, I would have called state. Congrats Brown Deer, you’ve taken the cake as the worst place I’ve been hospitalized. The unit was disgusting. Food everywhere, smells awful, and the room I was put in wasn’t even clean. Went here twice, like a doofus, to attend their PHP and IOP programs - learned nothing at all either time. Your insurance is shelling out copious cash for you to be read to from a textbook by people who have never had an addiction issue in their life - they're all clinical and professional, no sense of familiarity with what they're talking about. The "counsellors" or whatever joke of a title they're given are full of nothing but generic recovery slogans and statistics that corporate sends them; the ideas for recovery present... read more
