Old Fashioned Service Roer's, formerly Brauns Bakery has changed names but not the service. Prices are still great and the employees are still helpful and friendly. You can hardly beat a fresh loaf of bread for toast in the morning or a warm doughnut those reasons alone are why this building has been a staple to the Lakes Area for so long now. Wedding cake disaster I used this bakery for my wedding and it was the worst experience EVER! I ordered 2 dozen pink cupcakes to go on a tier for the grooms cake at our rehearsal dinner and what I got was 24 cupcakes with pink frosting smeared on the top with a butter knife. You could see the chunks of cake mixed in with the frosting! It looked like I made them myself. I asked the women at the counter if this is how they decorated all of their cupcakes and she replied very curtly "Yes". I was devastated. Seriously, how much ... read more
Cream Horn Heaven! Way better than a grocery store! In the downtown shopping area of Alexandria, Roers Family Bakery is a delight. I tried a cream horn as a snack and was impressed. The cream, which they tell me is a secret recipe, is to die for! The cream horns are big so make sure you're hungry. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I'm from Michigan and when I got home, I couldn't stop raving about these horns. I called the store up and they were able to ship a box to me. Talk about a great present. The cream horns are to die for!
My family has been coming here for probably 25 years. The crispies are awesomely unhealthy and the cream horns (a specialty) will likely put you into a good coma.
