Roger was like a father to me. I met him when I was only 11 years old. My mother moved us to an apartment behind his plant store at the corner of Torrance Blvd and Lucia Ave in Redondo Beach. He gave me my first job there. Soon after, we moved again, back up to Lancaster. Over the years, we kept in touch.
