The Rockefeller Chapel was, indeed, named after the famous tycoon, and is the tallest building on the University of Chicago campus. With a Guastavino-tile ceiling, massive organ pipe and carved oak seating, the atmosphere is perfect for the pomp and circumstance of a graduation ceremony or a production of Handel's Messiah, which the University of Chicago Motet Choir has performed annually for more than 50 years. Weddings are also performed here.

Also, the sound tech station is situated about 1/3 from the front on the left side so everyone on the left was forced to sit with a bright light board shining in front of them. The venue was black with bright spotlights shining on T&S and they commented it was strange and they couldn't see anyone. Eventually they brought the house lights up which was much better, but the setu... read more
Beautiful space. Great acoustics. I've heard Verdi's requiem and Bach's St John's passion in this space, magnificent.
Amazing place for a concert. Get there early and set up down in front, it is worth it.
