It’s by far the worst place I’ve ever lived. When we moved in, there was mold in the kitchen, stains on the walls, and even feces left in the toilet. During my stay, a water leak in my dorm damaged my clothes, yet Rochdale offered no compensation. The staff were extremely unhelpful and seemed indifferent to the living conditions, focusing instead on social activities. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place at all costs!
Rochdale is an affordable option in Berkeley. There is a nice park (Davis Park) with a basketball hoop within the complex. You have to participate in workshift for a certain number of hours per semester.
After having lived in student housing, I found the Berkeley Student Co-Op and as a re-entry student (over 25) I feel like I found my place, the place where I can feel at home. I've been living at Rochdale Apartments for almost a year and I wish I had known about Rochdale from the beginning of my time here at Berkeley. Here I've enjoyed having my own bedroom as well as my own kitchen and bathroom with no roommates to have to worry about.
