I had a very negative experience with Dr. Robert Montemurro on 3/28/2024 while in labor with my first child. When he came in to check my dilation, his communication was entirely inappropriate. He told me to “spread your legs like you are sunning at the beach.” The exam itself was performed very roughly, causing me significant physical discomfort, which I verbally pointed out to him at the time. Patients deserve professionalism, respect, and care during labor, and I did not receive that here.

Dr. Robert Montemurro is probably the realist, most empathetic, knowledgeable, and humorous doctor I have ever met. Each and every time I have visited him for the 5 + years I have been going to his practice he has gone ABOVE and BEYOND to ease any of my anxieties or concerns. His bedside manner is wonderful and his humor has ALWAYS been much appreciated at times when it was needed the most. On 3/28/2024 2:52 PM as I was in labor with my first child Robert Montemurro, M.D. was called to administer a vaginal exam to assess how many centimeters dilated I was and whether labor is progressing as expected. It was EXTREMELY disturbing when he said to me “Spread your legs like you are sunning at the beach.” even more disgusting the way he AGGRESSIVELY /FORCEFULLY SHOVED his fingers into my vagina causing significant discomfort. I didn't know much about endometriosis when I had my surgery with Dr Montemurro, but now that I do, I am appalled at the treatment I received. He performed an open surgery on me (instead of laparoscopic) because he said my cyst was "too big" to remove laparoscopically. I've spoken to numerous surgeons since then who said that was a red flag and completely untrue. After my surgery, he told me that I did NOT have endometriosis, because he "took it all out".
