Cold, egotistical know-it-all. Was not my surgeon for hip replacement, but got involved because one of his colleagues who did my surgery wouldn't follow up afterwards, when I had a serious problem with the implant. Did absolutely nothing to help; I found another surgeon who immediately assessed the problem and had to do a complete replacement due to metallosis. Would never agree to see Gurtler again.
In 1997 I hurt my right shoulder. I went to a local doctor here in Effingham, IL who did an MRI and found nothing. Dr. Gurtler knew exactly what it was... He fixed 8t and I have had no trouble with it since. He 8s an AMAZING doctor. So AMAZING in fact that I will be seeing him Thursday for my knee. Cause of course the local doctor again has done NOTHING! I have 100% faith in Dr. Gurtler!
Dr. Gurtler was kind, patient and tolerant of my many questions. He responded quickly and even called me with recommendations. My shoulder surgery could not have been managed better. If you want an extremely competent caring surgeon, look no further.
Dr. Gurtler is one of, if not the best orthapedic surgeons! He performed 2 surgeries on my knee out of 4 and wish i'd let him do them all! He made very incisions not like other surgeons who butchered me! He always showed great care and concern! He always make me feel better with his humorous, cheery attitude! GREAT!!!!! DOCTOR! I recommend him to family & friends all the time!
If I could give negative stars, I would! He did surgery on my knee after seeing an MRI that more than 1.5 years old, didn't order a new MRI so he had no idea just how bad my knee was. Now I have to have a total knee replacement in a few months. I missed 14 weeks of work for a surgery that should have had a 4 wk recovery time. And now I will miss another 3 months of wrk. He should had ordered a new MRI and done a knee replacement the first time. Needless to say, he IS NOT doing my replacement.
