About this business

Sitting pretty on the ninth floor of the Museum of Arts and Design, Robert paints a vibrant stroke atop the shades of grey that dominates the modern building. Christened after the iconic American event planner, Robert Isabell, the space is stamped with his signature style and panache. The cuisine is a blend of American and Mediterranean flavors, and gives way to a creatively-plated contemporary menu. Savor Foie Gras mousse, charred octopus and blue baby mussels with fine wine and inventive cocktails like the Mad Manhattan an... read more

An amazing view for a sorta-affordable price. Best view for the price in town!

What a major disappointment. Their salads are prepared like high school cafeteria food with watery dressing. And the chicken you add for extra money is undercooked. This place is like a bad coffee shop, and way overrated.

One of New York's Best Museum Restaurants – Having received unfavorable reviews from New York Magazine and the New York Times when it opened, Robert, on the ninth floor of the Museum of Arts & Design in Columbus Circle, enticed me by guaranteeing a table at the window. The critics ought to return, since the entrees (Arctic char, swordfish, scallops) were expertly prepared (except for overcooked Yukon Gold potatoes) and artfully presented. But the appetizers (watermelon salad, pickled salmon, oyster fritters) stole the show. ... read more

Citysearch Editorial Review – With a dining room Barbie and her collectors would love--outfitted in shocking pinks, purples and plenty of Lucite--it appears Robert’s focus is on eye candy instead of eats. Appropriately enough, this hyper-stylized eatery is on the ninth floor of the Museum of Arts and Design and, after a somewhat awkward approach off the elevator, offers exquisite views of Central Park--which is a good thing, since visitors often leave disappointed by the market-driven dishes on offer.

Cocktail lounge in the Museum of Arts and Desigh – For anyone visiting the recent Slash: Paper Under the Knife exhibit or looking for a unique spot to try out restaurant week--this is a safe bet. On the ninth floor of the Museum of Arts and Design this is a highly designed cocktail lounge--brightly colored sofas and chairs, glass table tops and a glossy black grand piano--all overlooking Columbus Circle and Central Park. The tables right by the windows are reserved for diners, but we had no trouble getting a great view from ... read more
