A hidden gem in San Diego for quality fusion Japanese! It can get quite busy during peak hours, so l recommend making a reservation or coming a bit early, but the food is absolutely worth it. The fish tasted extremely fresh, and the fusion dishes were elevated and well-crafted. Despite how busy it was, the service was wonderfully attentive, and the owners were genuinely kind and welcoming. Getting this level of fresh, high-end Japanese dining at such reasonable prices is rare. Will definitely be returning!
Don't eat the sushi. I ordered California rolls and they smelled so disgusting I didn't eat them. I've never had sushi that smells bad. This "restaurant" is unclean, and serves spoiled food.
Hidden gem! The fish quality was great - we got salmon, yellowtail, and bluefin tuna. They can make handrolls as well and we got the spicy scallop which is also pretty good. In terms of robata - the kbbq galbi was really good Must get - soft shell crab! and spicy tuna crispy rice and tempura green tea ice cream omg Skip - baked mussels unless you like a lot of imitation crab on top and can skip flat iron steak

ROBATA-X Sushi & Izakaya was absolutely amazing! Everything we ordered was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The sushi was especially impressive, and every dish was full of flavor. What made the experience even better was the outstanding hospitality—the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The service was truly top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place!
