This was the worst experience I have ever had working with an auditor/valuator. At the start, there was correspondence back and forth about the RLB process. A quote was given as a range. The engagement letter was signed and the retainer was paid. It wasn't the low end of the range, but was slightly above. The services took MONTHS to complete (we engaged in September 2024, services were finally complete in March 2025, for an income assessment of 3 years). I have had the pleasure of getting to learn from Shannon O'Neill over the past couple of years at business networking events. She is a kind and caring individual, who is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her career. She cares deeply about her clients and has been supportive, kind and honest at all times in our time knowing each other. I would recommend Shannon to any of my friends and colleagues for their accounting needs.
BUYER BEWARE. We experienced opaque, inflated billing. We hired Omar's team to review documents we'd prepared. RLB's engagement letter quoted hourly rates for partners and non-partners. But do these rates have any meaning? RLB had a non-partner handle our simple case, then gave us a large bill equivalent to 13.8 such hours. This is easily double the hours a competent non-partner would have spent reviewing our docs, doing some copy-paste from a basic database search, and delivering the information. We have used RLB for 2 seasons now for both our personal which includes hst and for our corporate accounting. Our first year we received a bill for over $4200.00 and were a little shocked at the sticker price on that but were told that the inital set up work was timely and a bit complicated but would yeild a lower cost going forward as all the peices were now in place for the next cycle year.
