Riverside camps was professional and fun! I took the beginner tree climbing course and learned so much. Jocelyn was a phenomenal instructor who offered a "challenge by choice" approach to moving about the top of a tree. I now feel confident to ascend, limb, walk, and reroute my descent while climbing a tree. Also, I was able to try out many types of gear before I purchased them. Jocelyn gave me lots of pointers and lessons learned to take with me. Highly recommended to anyone who is interested
The staff is friendly, but the quality of the rapids is very poor. Upper and Lower are a three-hour lazy raft ride with only one good 15-second rapid. If you're looking for excitement and adrenaline, this is definitely not the tour for you.
Did the Falls of the James trip with guide Tom. Fantastic time! Tom was a great guide, and the other raft guides in our group seemed great as well. Shooting the rapids was a blast (though the river was only at 3.6 feet, I'm sure it's even more fun with more water flow), and the island stops we made to relax and jump into the water were very nice as well. Alec was an excellent guide the ride was very fun. The Rapids are perfect for beginners.
Would highly reccomend! Finally got out on the river this morning. Our guides Tom and Jay were both great (Jay guided our boat). Fun knowledge about the history of the James as well during the breaks on flat water between rapids. Would also recommend doing the float with lunch, it was a delicious sandwich (i forgot the name where they get it from, but they get an indirect 5 star as well) and was nice to take a quick break. Definitely planning on going back!
