About this business
The R&GN is a 15 inch gauge steam train railway and living history museum. The railway's tracks are laid on an 1857 railroad right-of-way that goes through Wisconsin Dells scenic rock cuts, woods, and valleys - at one point crossing over the world's largest 15 inch gauge railway bridge. The Sandley Light Railway Equipment Works manufactured 1/4 scale trains in the shops at the R&GN from 1953 until 1980. In 1989 the R&GN Preservation Society was founded to operate the railway and teach about steam train railway history.

Everyone there made this experience the absolute best for my family. I was panicked because we were running late and would likely miss our 1:00 train. I spoke with Jessica and she assured me that we can still come and she’s move our reservation to 2:00 PM. We missed the chance to get a seat with windows so it was an extra chilly ride for us, BUT, we were at the caboose! Was there twice this year. The first was in October for the Pumpkin Patch ride. The second was in December for the Christmas ride. With the first ride it was just the two of us. With the second ride there were six of us, to include my daughter and grandson. And yes, we saw Santa. Staff was super friendly and the rides were excellent (cold in December though). The only CC I can give is the Pumpkin Patch with the October ride was great; however, that area was bare for the December ride. We didn't have to stop on that second ri... read more
Grandchildren loved it. Be prepared to be cold.
It was such a fun ride. I definately recommend going with your kids.
