About this business
The R&GN is a 15 inch gauge steam train railway and living history museum. The railway's tracks are laid on an 1857 railroad right-of-way that goes through Wisconsin Dells scenic rock cuts, woods, and valleys - at one point crossing over the world's largest 15 inch gauge railway bridge. The Sandley Light Railway Equipment Works manufactured 1/4 scale trains in the shops at the R&GN from 1953 until 1980. In 1989 the R&GN Preservation Society was founded to operate the railway and teach about steam train railway history.

We rode a real steam train. The engineer was actually shoveling in coal! It is a quarter scale train and is very authentic. Historically these were actually used. The engineer and conductor were dressed the part. It actually was quite a long ride for the cost.

Such a treat! Beautiful place, sweet little train ride through a gorgeous forested area. Employees very nice. Great gift shop. Highly recommend.
