Had an amazing time kayaking the lower Platte River. Would definitely do it again. Parking situation isn't too crazy, although it can get a bit congested. My only complaint is the check-in process. Some of the staff seemed disinterested and/or bored of the job. Not a huge deal, but it resulted in some wasted time and miscommunication. For example, I wanted to pay extra in order to leave my rented equipment at the end landing site, but the staff did not mark the contract correctly. Had a great time tubing this weekend with Riverside Canoe. I was able to reserve & prepay by calling. (This made the process smoother when getting there.) Platte River was very relaxing and the ending at Lake Michigan is beautiful. Will definitely be back.
Fun time floating down the river and the staff was super plentiful. The circus to go there and park, then follow the van and drop off some people, then drop our car off then meet back at the first drop off (especially because there wasn't close parking for the car) was a little crazy. Also, at least for the 4th the float was very crowded and a lot of drunk folks. We just had waters with us. All in all a fun time, just know what you are getting into.
Very nice river to Kayak but you have to pay extravagant prices...$48 per Kayak,and pay for parking and life vest return on top of that...They told us to buy the $25 parking pass, when we got to the parking lot it was full with nowhere to park, so we barely snagged a spot in a different lot only to be told we had to pay an EXTRA $5 to park there..Their prices are outrageous
We had a blast in the 2-3 hour tube float! It was totally mellow and shallow most of the way. Be aware you do have to walk for about. 10 minutes with the tube to reach the river at the start, and also that they provide plastic bags for belongings for free when you get dropped off. Beautiful scenery and professional outfit. After you drop off the tube at the end be sure to check out the mouth of the river, as it was one of the coolest river/beach areas I’ve seen! Every rock there is perfect for skipping!
