I moved my mother to Azalea Estates in Gonzales from an assisted living facility in Minnesota ,, having her live at this facility has been a blessing for her and us. The Administration and staff care about the residents and provide a level of service that has exceeded our expectations. When the time comes for me to need this type of living arrangement I will be very happy to reside at Azalea Estates.

My mother was a resident of Greatwood Retirement for 5 1/2 years. She moved in when she was 90 and had a beautiful apartment overloking the lake. She had wonderful years living there.She enjoyed the freedom of living in a great place that was safe, that she didn't have to worry about anything, the meals were great, there were activities and a bus was available to take the residents shopping, to the doctor and on planned trips.

A beautiful place but in the past 2 years it has gone through a lot of employee turnover. The maintenace department lacks the ability to keep up with what needs to be done in the apartments. The bathrooms need the seals around the commodes replaced in many of the apartments.....yet they are not being replaced even though the request has been made. This is a health risk for the seniors who live in these apartments.

Can count on them residents can't depend on the same employees to be there from one day to the next. upper management gets rid of good employees that are familiar faces. It is important to feel like you can trust someone taking care of you as if they were family, but by the time you get to know them they get fired. Seems as if the director is envious of the relationship built between the resident and the lower care giver.
