My husband and I were very cautious when it came to selecting someone to entrust with our fur babies. Dr. John Shaner and Dr. Mike Hellman are both equally wonderful, can't go wrong with either. They are very knowledgeable and trustworthy, and always willing to explain things so everyone can understand. You can honestly tell they care deeply about your pets, which gives you great comfort. Dr. Hellman has been our vet for over 30 years. He's a wonderful and caring doctor. We love Dr. Shaner, too. The care is always top notch and they never try to upsell additional services or treatments. They truly care about our pets!
I had to respond to the previous review. I have been taking my cats and dogs here for the past 3 years and have been pleased with not only how how I am treated, but with the care and compassion they show my animals. I have seen both vets and am very confident with their professionalism, knowledge, and consideration. I have been to vets who only swoop into the room for a few minutes before moving on, but at River Oak the vets spend time with both the animals and talking to the owners. The vets are incredible I have had a few different animals through the years and have trusted the vets here the whole way. I had a dog from a pet store that was with the vets her for the first 6 weeks of her life. She had no chance of living and they miraculously saved her. She just passed after 14 years with our family and Dr. Mike was nothing but great through it all. Trust Dr. Mike 100% This comment is actually about Dr. Mike Hellman...he has taken care of my dogs for 30 years. We had one dog live to be 16 one dog live to be 18 (this dog he saved from near death experiences3 times,poisoning,severe dehydration while we were on vacation and a horrible case of gastrointeritis) and one who just passed away from congestive heart failure at17 in december.
