We were on vacation in Colorado when my husband broke his ankle hiking. ER, surgery, 2 nights in hospital. I was terrified it’d be “out-of-network” and denied. I called the 24/7 line from the hospital. They confirmed emergency care is covered anywhere in the U.S. at in-network rates. The $47,000 bill was processed and I only owed my $500 ER copay + deductible. They even coordinated the follow-up PT back home in Florida. True emergencies don’t care about state lines. Neither does this plan.
