I was a patient in the ER with asthma and trouble breathing. I am also diabetic and my Blood sugar was running high. He wanted to give me solumedrol which is a steroid that helps tremendously. Problem is it elevates your sugar level drastically. The last time I had it, it took my sugar to 588 and when I went into respiratory failure, they couldn't give me more or they could have caused me to go into a diabetic coma.
