This summer I was traveling (with wildfire crew) with my aging dog and an arsenal of medications waiting for answers from lab work from my vet back home. We came to Ridgway with our two German Shepherds. When we arrived our 9 and a half years female became very lethargic and weak. Dr. Rhodes did little bloodwork but went directly to an ultrasound that showed a large splenic tumor and an abdominal aspiration that revealed blood. She recommended euthanasia as our dog would likely only survive a few days. Her compassion and diagnostic skill made a shocking situation as humane as possible. We were welcomed last minute and seen right away with our frenchie who was having trouble breathing and keeping any food or water down. The staff was super helpful and professional. Especially for out of towners like us who were in the area.
