**Update** It has been almost 2 years since my surgery, and I've pretty much made a full recovery. Everyone recovers at a different pace and most likely due to the damage done prior to the surgery I had a lot of healing to do. As of now, I'm back to all my usually activities, pain free. I run, bike, swim, dance, play with my kids. Things I didn't think were possible without caution. I know where my back stands. Dr Ogbuji is a "GREAT" surgeon and I highly recommend him. He did a level 3 cervical fusion on me in May, 2025 after years of pain, weakness, numbness and tingling in my neck, shoulders, arms and fingers. Since the surgery I have felt better than I could have ever expected with all symptoms gone. He is thorough and takes the time to listen, and prompt on appointment times. Dr. Ogbuji is phenomenal. Period. He has patiently guided me through a bulging lumbar disc and pinched nerve over the last 1.3 years. Recently I underwent a microdiscectomy with Dr. Ogbuji and was back to work in 7 days. Western MA is lucky to have such an amazing neurosurgeon.
Dr. Ogbuji performed my laminectomy of L5S1. We were conservative in our treatment initially, given my age and health. However, after 3 months we decided to move forward with the surgery. Unfortunately for me, I have post laminectomy syndrome. While I do have significant improvement in pain, my nerve is still pinched. I was referred to pain mgmt by Dr. Ogbuji, it is unclear to my pain mgmt Dr if this pressure on the nerve is scar tissue, inflammation or a post surgical change in anatomy, I've had 2 post surgical MRIs.
