What an incredible experience with Dr. Spiritos and staff. Well worth the wait to get in. I have never felt so heard and seen by a physician. After two years of navigating chronic illness it’s clear this doctor is the real deal and cares deeply for his work and his patients! Dr. Spiritos should be the gold standard for bedside manner and he blew me away with how he navigated our entire appointment and his expansive knowledge!
If you can go somewhere else, please do. I felt super dismissed and Dr.Udwatta literally asked me what I wanted him to do about my current situation instead of saying anything. If you need a gastro, stay away from UNC Rex. Find someone else.

Everyone in the office is extremely friendly and helpful. Dr. Udawatta was great. He listened to my concerns and was very knowledgeable. Did an excellent job of explaining everything I wanted information on and laying out a treatment plan I was comfortable with and confidant in. Would absolutely recommend.
I decided on this practice because it is part of the UNC system. I began researching doctors and I found Dr. Udawatta. I went to see him and explained very thoroughly what was going on with me and how I was having a new onset of symptoms related to this issue. Instead of him looking into it again just to be sure, he completely dismissed what I was saying and proceeded to schedule me for procedures that was absolutely unnecessary because they were what HE thought that I needed.
