I recommend that as educators enter retirement, that they join REAM to keep up to date on issues effecting retirees. As a statewide organization we have great visibility at the statehouse to stay on top of issues and to speak with legislators. Our State Board works tirelessly for us but we also have Chapter organizations that help more locally. Finding your local chapter and getting involved can be a good social experience to stay in touch with friends!
