Walked in to buy a couch and tell me why they have one priced at $1600?? That’s insane. When asked they said it was a $5000 couch. Um…so? This is a Habitat for Humanity and I bet the people that donated it would be ashamed. Why are you pricing people out of affordable furniture?
It's one thing for Goodwill to be greedy with other people's discarded crap, but Restore? Who the heck is responsible for pricing? I understand the mission of Restore and the proceeds going to whatever low income housing projects, but what happened to the shoppers going to restore specifically because they can't afford to furnish that home? I mean, cmon, you're getting this stuff from people for free. Most I see is elderly & middle/upper class people bored and looking to thrift. This is a very worthy cause, but on the other hand I have found the people to be very picky. I spoke to someone on the phone yesterday and they told me it would be fine to bring in a donation after 3 if it was small and I didn’t need help bringing it in. Well, I dropped off some boxes of inner workings for a toilet, very small. The woman receiving the items informed me of the time restriction and I let her know that I had spoken to someone on the phone and they had given me the ok.
