I was looking forward to my stay in Ann Arbor. Unfortunately, my flight was delayed 3 times and I was unable to attend my work event. I called before noon to cancel my room without an issue. Getting a refund for the room has been very difficult. 4 phone calls and an email to the hotel manager without a result. As a Gold Elite member, I am very disappointed :(
My partner booked a stay at the Residence Inn Ann Arbor Downtown through Chase Travel (which uses Expedia as a booking platform) for Valentine’s Day. The reservation was under her name. We expected a clean and well-maintained Marriott property. Upon arriving and entering the room, we immediately noticed the room was in unacceptable condition. Helpful staff. 1 of 2 elevators broken. Low water pressure, combined with soft water for the shower. Pricey room, for the discrepancies. Expensive valet price.
I have stayed at this hotel several times. When things go well, this is a nice place to stay. However, my experience during my most recent stay involved several very concerning incidents. First, the cleaning staff left the door to my room open on two separate occasions so that anyone could just walk into my room while I was away. Second, a colleague of mine staying at the hotel was woken up in the middle of the night and told he had to come to the front desk and show his ID or they would call the cops on him. Rooms have been updated. Newer feel. Staff helpful. Close to hospital as my wife was having eye surgery. Very quiet. Breakfasts were included and pretty good. Turkey bacon really looked fake and not much taste. Room was clean.
