Context: We closed on a house that was owned pre-covid about a year ago with this republic title (chosen by the seller). The seller had been paying less than their fair share of property taxes due to the homestead "cap" and the crazy spike of home prices during covid and figured the amount they would pay for prorated taxes for the year into the closing costs based on their lower "capped" taxes.
