Rend Lake is one of southern Illinois' real gems. I'm a local and believe me when I tell you that the fishing is fantastic! The resort, however, was beset with problems, foremost among them was mold and mildew in the hotel. Apparently, the lessee lost the lease and the resort is now standing derelict. I hope the issues with the resort are resolved. This was a great resource for boaters in particular. It's closed now. It's for sale. Wish someone would buy it and open again. I stayed several times and loved it
It was Closed but have so many childhood memories that we went by to launch our boat one last time from the only open dock there. Looks like they have a lot of work ahead of anyone who takes over. Hopefully that someone can make it better. Would love to stay again once all the problems are fixed.
