I am not one to usually write negative reviews, but my experience with Reliant Energy has been... not so good. I called Reliant in December of 2024 because I was going to be moving into a new apartment that month. I told Reliant that my move in date was going to be 12/10. They understood and said my electricity services would be active by then. I moved into my unit and I had power. Great. I went on Reliant's website to set up my account. They are overcharging people and that's not cool the month to month is suppose to be the cheapest but isn't. They tell you they have a program to help but soon as you miss one payment they charge you 2x your bill and I missed the payment because they tell you they will break down they amount in 4 to 5 payments pull you in with a really cheap installment payment to start then your second is 35 for the payment plan but that 3rd payment in so so high they will and do!!! Just don't.. super expensive especially in a 1 bdr apt.. nearly 200$+ and the stupid oncor charge is ridiculous..
Paid my bill and they never marked it paid. Now on my credit.
I have been with Reliant since 2004. Great customer service, rates & average billing. No hidden or gimmick fees!
