Love REI, my husband has a membership so we do shop there often. Was traveling thru Oregon and we both needed new shoes for hiking the National parks. Went to this one in Hillsboro and while most of the employees were very nice and helpful the older man working in the shoe dept was rude, unhelpful and acted like we were an inconvenience to him. The cashier started off quite friendly, until my husband and I weren't interested in the membership, she rudely said "well it helps my numbers" I'm sorry? I wish I caught her name. I just wanted a state park pass
UPDATED REVIEW 5-23-2025 OH BOY I GOT A GOOD ONE FOR YOU!!! I have been a member of REI for over 21 years and I have never been treated like this before. I ordered a bunch of Mountain House meals online and when I went put them away I noticed one of the meal packages was basically flat like there was nothing in it. Then after further investigation I noticed the box had some freeze dried food pieces in the box but not enough for a whole package and that the meal package itself was not sealed at all AND someone made an attempt... read more
This is a nice store inside, with two stories, and the staff are incredibly outgoing and nice. Decent selection of things, though it definitely is missing some things more hardcore outdoors folks would want, and overheard at least two sets of people mentioned they didn't have what they wanted. A big box store or multi story store could solve that, but a bigger footprint is clearly needed to do so.
