I went to the Silverdale REI for the first time today and loved it. I recently got into mountain biking and they were so friendly and helped me with all my questions. One of the friendliest and most welcoming stores I’ve been to in a while.
REI has clearly changed in the past few years since COVID. The 20 year employees who were truly knowledgeable are gone and there are a lot more people who simply have a job there. Deals seem more plentiful, but I miss the old vibe of the retired backpacker helping you out. Still a great shop, but wish corporate would push the organization back to its roots.
