My wife and I went into REI to look for some new walking shoes for an upcoming trip. We were helped by an employee names Shelayne. We were so impressed at the level of knowledge care that Shelayne had when helping us with our purchase. We had made our choices and Shelayne asked us a few more questions then made some more recommendations on size and style. Be wary of the one year return policy! If your product has an issue past a few weeks they likely won't honor the return even if it most likely was a product/manufacturing error. Had a pair of Altras that after 3 months the tip of the sole started peeling off and they wouldn't take it back because it was considered "normal wear and tear". Rei is just another company who's profit driven system has changed them from a costumer first , fan favorite to just like any other big box store.
