While traveling I realized I left my flip flops at home. I called REI in Kalispell, MT to see if they had what I needed and they did, and shared they had a large parking lot (were towing). When I got there two people offered to help direct me to what I needed, but nobody ever came to help me try on bike shoes. It was strange. Bike repair shop was great. However, we have been customers since 1989, and we have never had an employee as rude as we did in Kalispell. We were looking for an item. Unfortunately, the man we asked if they had it, checked with another employee. She had red hair was older lady and wore glasses. She was so rude. She felt it was necessary to tell us REI sells outdoor sporting equipment, as if we couldn’t tell from the items around us, and is not in the business of selling what we were looking for. I was shopping with my super mellow 7lbs rescue pupper and my husband came in with our second, 9lbs mellow guy, when we were abruptly confronted by an older female salesperson, with a pursed face and hands on her hips a la’ Karen style asking ‘are those service dogs?’ When the store is empty with a hurting for business vibe, I was insulted by what was a step below an (unnecessary) confrontation. So, in lieu of lying, I just chose to take my business elsewhere.
