Bought bunch of smart wool socks and a hat at REI. I get rung out and the cashier and I are both staring at my merchandise until she says, "we're bagless... do you want me to find a little box for you?" Meanwhile, I have 17 pairs of socks that I'm juggling as I walk out the store and end up dropping and losing the hat. Meanwhile, they're banging on me the whole time I'm in there to join the membership, whatever that means. Does the membership mean you get a bag...
I usually am a fan of REI and how they treat customers, but today I swapped a Christmas gift - same item, different size, identical price. Staff tried adding a five dollar hit for "rewards processed for last year", which smelled unfair and made no sense. I pushed back and asked for the manager, and the staff member eventually came back and rang it as a zero cost exchange. Caution to others; this feels shady - don't let them charge you fees to exchange gifts!!
Great selection of items. Friendly service. Easy to park.
They gave us back the wrong ski and requested us to bring it back. We requested a discount on our service due to us living an hour away and it being such a massive inconvenience to us. They declined and were very rude to us even though it was their fault. Unacceptable customer service. Do better.
