REI only sells the best quality gear It is possible to get a better price, but trying to save a very small amount of money you risk getting poor quality products. I have been buying climbing gear from REI for over 10 years and they only carry the best quality brands at good prices. The winter clothing they have is great. Ben was extremely helpful I took my daughter's hiking backpack to REI because I had removed the metal stays before washing it and couldn't manage to get them back in. It was very difficult because the rubber cap on the end of one of the stays had become lodged inside the webbing. Anyway, Ben spent a great deal of time putting the stays back and even used needle-nosed pliers to get the rubber piece out. thank you mark c a few days ago i went to rei and I could not decide what type of sleeping bag to get. It was kind of busy and every sales man was busy except the person stocking the area, he spent a great deal of time with me deciding on a sleeping bag, i did not feel presured to buy something i wasnt comfortable with nor did he bug me to buy a membership and the fact that he spent some time helping me really helped alot thank you mark c.
