I purchased this lumin aid solar light and charger after I purchased a membership but it will no longer take a solar charge and REI would not give me a refund or exchange because I had purchased it more than a year ago even though they claim to offer a lifetime guarantee to all members.
Tent pole broke after 3 nights of use and 14 days after purchase. REI refused to honor its one year membership satisfaction guarantee. Also refused to help fix the pole even after telling them I was in the middle of a camping trip. I have never experienced such rudeness or lack of caring. It’s mind blowing how REI corporate lets them tarnish their good name.

Against my better judgement, I took my rear mountain bike wheel to the bike repair shop to replace a broken spoke. Price was $85 (~$5-10 more than the Absolute quoted). The shop "manager" (Josh?) did the repair and managed to loose the through axle. I didn't notice until I got home and went to put the wheel back on my bike. I wasn't too worried- REI is known for great service and I felt confident they'd find it or make it right.
