Nobody ever answers the phone, you might have a simple question and have to drive/take time out your day to go in person, what’s the point of being a clerk? I’ve been a clerk myself, at some point the only clerk in office and I was still able to answer phone calls and help people in person. They don’t make sailors like they used to.
