Disgusting hospital. My grandparents went to the ER and were refused help due to being Indian. They are over the age of 80, and my grandma was severely sick. A receptionist spoke to them rudely and said along the lines of "We will treat people from Saskatchewan first. Not Alberta", and after a five hour wait they still weren't treated and when they were the doctor was extremely rude. I'd like to send a huge thank you to the team in the endoscopy department. Specifically nurse Laurie and Dr. Bhasin. I have colonoscopies every 5 years and this year was no exception, easy breezy beautiful. Laurie was the nurse in the department who took care of me prior to the procedure and as per my last two colonoscopies, Dr. Bhasin was the one who did the procedure. I came to the emergency department around 8:00 p.m. because I had a small cut on my finger that needed stitches. The cut was minor and I expected the stitching procedure itself to take less than 10 minutes. The last time I needed stitches, I had a much larger cut, but the stitching only took about 15 minutes. Even then, I had to wait around 2 hours. This time, however, I ended up waiting approximately 6 hours 35 minutes. The emergency room is a hell hole. I was given originally a 4hr wait time then at the 4hrs they told me it would be minimum 12 more hours. One woman had been there from 8pm and was still waiting at 6am the next morning when I finally couldn't sit anymore due to a chronic pain dissability. But yet a woman who looked like she was in zero distress was taken back with in an hour of arriving. Its crazy 2 people were called from 3am till about 6am. With zero TV or any type of time killer.
