Lad Akins expertise and excellent teaching skills lends credibility to the Foundation. He is the main reason I participate with the REEF trips. Thank you for showing me the Social Wrasse.
I have been a member over 16 years now. I began with a Reef trip to Puerto Rico in 2001 and now that I am retired I do 3 to four trips per year and even survey in my home waters on the big island of Hawaii. I feel in my own small way I am giving back to the planet. Plus since I am on the look out I seem to get so much more out of every dive. Best of all you meet some really wonderful people!
I'm proud to be a citizen scientist for REEF! I think surveys add a lot of fun to my dives.
Our organization, DEEP Foundation, took the fish identification class and the REEF staff was very friendly and informative. We also did the fish survey dive and they were great! They helped us spot and identify the organisms we learned during the class. I was very greatful when they noticed we left an item behind during the class and they returned it when we meet at the dive site.
