This is the best park in Charlotte that I know of. It's a lot bigger than it looks, and has an excellent system of walking trails. Also has playgrounds, a dog park, I believe fishing and camping (though I haven't done those, just think I've seen signs for them, so you'd need to verify those first), and a nature center.
This is a fantastic place with something for the entire family. Visit the space built by the Carolina Panthers if you want to try a fun workout, you can even time your run! The dog park (for dogs over 20#) is huge! Lots of trees, open space to throw a ball or just walk. Up for a hike, go for it, paved trailed with bridges, walkways and more meander through the acreage. Basketball courts, picnic areas and more. A place to visit time and time again.
Lovely park. Went there for a guided watercolor class, it was very well organized.
