Cute little place in Madrona. The atmosphere was great and the server was very nice. The food was pretty meh.

Visited Red Cow in Madrona last weekend and had a really nice experience overall! A french style steakhouse nestled in Madrona, the place is warm and bustling--lots of energy, a little on the loud side, but in a good way. It feels like a neighborhood gem that still takes food seriously. Our server was super friendly, knew the menu inside and out, and made some great suggestions. I placed a takeout order from Red Cow, expecting a high end steakhouse experience, but unfortunately, it fell short. I ordered a burger medium done, but it arrived well done. I also requested Frites, but received French fries instead. The box didn’t include any napkins, and the order took quite a while to be prepared. They didn’t even call me when it was ready, so I had to go and ask myself. Overall, it didn’t meet my expectations for a high-end dining experience.

Loved it. Went for our anniversary. Best beef tartare in Seattle. Been to a couple of the other places who serve it, but they served oxidized grey beef. Perfectly cooked steak with great sauce and fries. Service was great. They greeted us with sparkling wine and were attentive throughout.

Red Cow has an excellent happy hour, and I decided to treat myself to a somewhat decadent meal featuring the steak tartare, prime rib French dip, and crème brûlée. All three dishes were outstanding, but the clear standout was the tartare—rich, fatty, and perfectly portioned. The crostini were buttery and crisp without being overly hard, complementing the tartare beautifully. For drinks, I recommend the house Bordeaux or the Old Fashioned, both reasonably priced at $10. The Old Fashioned, in particular, struck a nice balance ... read more
