Great organization with great people! No one's illness (mental, physical or emotional) is the same. At RI, people who have a mental illness and who have learned skills to manage & cope with it, (the same if one have diabetes, etc.) get trained and certified to assist others in the recovery process. The recovery process is much like that of any other illness, disease or affliction -- it means you are using the best ways possible to manage your illness and let yourself live without your illness defining you. RI was like a boey of hope foating in the ocean of my despair-when surely I thought I would sink to the oceas floor and drown RI sent out a life raft and I climbed on- that was over two years ago and now I am not only swimming in an ocean of opportunity, but am walking on water. The tools I've gathered by participating in the various support groups, classes, and work shops are invaluable and infinite. The friends I've made are wonderful. The peer support is unmatched antwhere else in Kalamazoo. I love RI!
