Amazing service, such great staff. Best shrimp and grits ever! Excellent menu! Worth every moment of drive over!!!
Ordered a burger cooked medium and received a very, very rare burger. It was barely seared and completely raw. No warm pink center. It was tartare. Nothing but cold, raw meat. Since I ordered delivery to a hotel there wasn’t much we could do but toss it. Sadly, the pork belly app had the opposite problem and was overcooked. It was so tough you could barely chew it. No winning with this meal. I’m in town quite a bit, but this is my first and last time trying this place. Very disappointing.
Food was insane and service was amazing. Went for lunch. Pretty good for the price. Below ratings for my future self: Charred broccoli: 7.5 (8+ with a lil salt) Meatloaf: 9.5/10 (best meatloaf so far, well balanced, not salty just need the tiniest bit of moisture but the sauces add that)
I’d been a loyal Recess patron since before 2016, but I’ll never return. In January 2021 (my first visit post-COVID), we were informed of strict distancing policies from the staff; all were abandoned within 15 minutes due to overcrowding. After paying and requesting my (still cooking) food to-go, I was physically blocked by three women. When I asked for space, I was harassed and threatened. I stopped by twice in one day — that’s how intriguing this spot was. The first visit, I was drawn in by an appetizer I just had to try: peanut butter and jelly pork belly. Unusual? Absolutely. But it was fabulous — bold, unexpected, and delicious. After walking through the rest of town, I found myself right back for a second round. This time, it was their creative take on shrimp and grits.
