I took a trip to Halifax this past weekend, and when I got to the airport I tried to purchase a water and my credit card declined. Upon calling the credit card department they informed me my card had been closed down for fraud. I didn't receive any kind of info that my card had been shut down. Not blocked or suspended, fully closed down. (The fraud was the rental car and hotel transaction I conducted a week prior due to it being in a different province...unbelievable) I was in a new city with no method of making purchases. Tried to pay a car loan (only product I have with RBC) with a cheque or cash which they would not accept unless I opened a chequing account to deposit to it first… since when does a bank not accept cash (legal tender).
The RBC virtual assistant is the worst in the world.
